Topic: Design of Concrete Podiums for Wood Structures

Speaker: Dr. Mohammad Jalalpour, Principal Engineer at Sazan Inc.

Mohammad Jalalpour is the manager of engineering services at SAZAN Structural Engineers with extensive experience in Seismic design and retrofit of structures. Dr. Jalalpour's recent work focused on developing standards and methods for structural repair and retrofit utilizing various techniques such as Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP), concrete jacketing, external post-tensioning, section enlargement, and bonded concrete overlay strengthening. Mohammad is an active member of ACI 369, "Standard Requirements for Seismic Evaluation and Retrofit of Existing Concrete Buildings". He contributed to developing a testing program of evaluation of FRP systems for the seismic upgrade of diaphragms with ICC evaluation services.
